Cub Master Corner (Joel Hopper)
It's that time of year again Scouts. Time for winding down
the school year and the Scout year as well. But it's very
important that you remember to work on your new skills
you got in school by practicing them during the summer.
Reading books is a great way to practice that skill.
As Scouts we need to remember that some of the skills we learn need practicing too.
Tying knots, whittling, pitching tents, cooking. Lots of different tasks might be difficult
now, but after practicing, you'll wonder why you couldn't do it sooner.
Also, remember that just because the Scouting year is winding
down doesn't mean that our activities will stop for the
summer. Watch the website for updates to the calendar of
events. While we have not quite finalized the dates for the
summer activities, we have a lot planned. The first thing that
we do to begin the end of the season is to have our annual
Crossover where we move up in rank in Scouts. We get new
books with new skills, new neckerchiefs, new uniforms in
some cases. We also get new leaders for some of the leadership
roles in the pack.
I know I had fun as Cub Master. I hope you give Mr. Jeff
the same respect you showed me. He will need your help to
make sure that the next year for Pack 978 is as good as this
one was.
