Cub Master Corner (Joel Hopper)

Scouts, here's a little quiz for you: What's the most welcome twoword sentence in the English language? Some of you might say, it's "We won!" Others would vote for, "Here's money!" But I think the most welcome two word sentence is "Thank you. " It isn't used as often as it should be. How often do you use it? And how often do you say thank you to the people who are closest to you, your mother and father? How often do you say it to your friends or even strangers when they do something for you? It's so easy to forget, especially if the Good Turn is done by somebody in your family. Too often we take for granted the many things our parents and other family members do for us. See if you can find some reason to say thank you every day to some member of your family. You may be surprised how they will react. A simple thank you costs nothing, but it means so much to those who matter most to you. And remember, manners make the man and can be the difference between you being just another Scout and one who earns himself respect from those around him.

Some Words From Our Outings Chairman (Rob Miller)

The Pack has canceled the Sept 30th weekend campout due to the Park area having a very, very high burn ban. This prevents us from using coals and open flames to cook our meals. The committee is working on rescheduling the campout. The second campout will be November 4, weekend at 1000 Trails in Conroe, TX. The spring campouts are planned for Feb 25, 2006 at Brazos Bend SP and March 25, 2006 at Bovey. We will continue to plan specific activities for the scouts to earn advancements, badges, pins, and belt loops as well as family time to enjoy the parks. The Pack encourages everyone to attend the campouts by either camping or joining the day’s activities. The Outings Committee will also be planning other activities throughout the year so watch the Pack Calendar in Scout Track for all events and changes! Please remember to register for campouts on the Pack Web site, www.pack978.com. Get ready our next Push mobile race day is October 30th.

Some Words From Our Pack Chairman (Phillip Blatzheim)

Hello Scouts and Parents,

I know this will come as a surprise to everyone. I have recently accepted a position with Mary Kay in Dallas, TX. What this means to the Pack.

1. As Committee Chair, I will not be able to meet on Tuesdays for the monthly planning meeting. I will continue in this capacity, to the best of my ability, as long as it takes to find a replacement.

2. Re-Chartering in December, I will work with Kim Hancy, Tiffany Johnson, Mary Lou Miller, and Joel Hopper to ensure that the Pack is properly rechartered at the December Roundtable.

I am always available to help with anyone who would like assistance.

Finally, since our family is not relocating immediately, Ryan and Neil will continue to be active in the Pack.

Yours In Scouting

Phillip
