Summertime Activity Review (Jeff Johnson)
The Cub Scout Summer Activities had a great turn out of excited Scouts in attendance. The
events ranged from volleyball, model rocket launching, Cub Scout summer camp, bowling,
Memorial City Mall lock in and movie night, and a Rain Gutter Regatta. A grand total of
33 scouts attended at least one of the seven summer activities, 24 scouts attended at least
two, 14 scouts attended at least three, 8 scouts attended at least four. The scouts that
attended the volleyball and bowling summer activities all earned their belt loop awards,
and the scouts that attended summer camp earned other various belt loop awards. Thanks to all
of the Pack leaders, Den leaders, and the parents that participated to help make the summer
activities fun and exciting for all of the scouts.

Cub Master Corner (Joel Hopper)
Hello Cubs and Parents!
I hope all of you had a fun and safe Summer. We had a lot of fun at our activities
this summer. The rocket launch was a real blast! We scored really big at the bowling
outing too. The Raingutter Regatta turned into a big water baloon fight. In fact I think
I'm still wrinkled. Let's have tons of fun again this year but remember to always be safe.
Talk to your friends about joining scouts and let's show the school how Cub Scouts can really
be!
Go Scouts!

Some Words From Our Pack Chairman (Phillip Blatzheim)
Hello Scouts and Parents,
I hope everyone had a great summer. I want to thank Jeff Johnson for coordinating all the
events as well as all his helpers.
As for the coming year, I look forward to another GREAT ONE!
POPCORN sales is right around the corner. This is our primary fund-raising event for the
year. I ask that each scout DO YOUR BEST and sell as much popcorn as you can. Speaking
of POPCORN, We are looking for two adults to help with some administrative tasks concerning popcorn
fundraiser.
The planned camp-outs look like great fun. I hope to see each of you and your families at those.
Push-mobile is also looking to be a great event.
TIGERS (first graders): Remember Tiger Day is in September and the pack will pay for your
registration.
Yours In Scouting:
Phillip.

Some Words From Our Outings Chairman (Rob Miller)
The pack has two camping trips planned for the fall and two for the spring. This year we will
kickoff our camping at Stephen F. Austin State Park in San Felipe, TX, approximately 40 miles
from Cypress, on Sept. 30 - Oct. 2. The pack had a good experience with this park last year at the
"Polar Bear" campout; close to home, clean facilities, large common area between campsites, with hiking
and fishing available. The second campout was scheduled for Buescher State Park in Smithville, TX but due to
recent gas prices this location is being reviewed again by the committee; any/all input is welcome. The
spring campouts are planned for Feb 25, 2006 at Brazos Bend SP and March 25 2006 at Bovay.
We will continue to plan specific activities for the scouts to earn advancements, badges, pins, and belt
loops as well as family time to enjoy the parks. The Pack encourages everyone to attend the campouts by
either camping or joining the day's activities. The Outings Committee will also be planning other activities
throughout the year so watch the Pack Calendar in Scout Track for all events and changes!

Little Cypress Creek Park / Reserve (Joel Hopper)
Bird Houses made at the Huntsville Campout (14) will be hung / mounted at the Little Cypress Creek
Park / Preserve. Time of this work is TBD. Note: This does meet the requirement for the World
Conservation Award. The park is now open the first Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Did
you know there is a large colony of Sun Dew in the park? We need folks who are willing to come out and
simply be there when the gates are open as the 4-wheelers will think that's an invitation. It's a shame
to not let the community enjoy walking in this beautiful area and along the creek. If you can help man
the park please contact Joel Hopper.
